Q. Can you tell us about your current work?
My partner and I work on original recipe content through CABAGGES WORLD. We produce cooking videos and publish recipes online, and through that, we get to share our approach to food with a wider community.
Q. 現在の活動内容について教えてください。
「CABAGGES WORLD」を通じてパートナーと一緒にオリジナルレシピを発信しています。料理動画をつくったり、レシピをオンラインで公開したりしながら、より多くの人と食の楽しみを分かち合えたらと思っているんです。
Q. What do you keep in mind when creating a new dish?
We try to make dishes that fit naturally into everyday life, something quick, uncomplicated, and that brings a sense of comfort. Japanese flavors are at the core of our cooking, since that’s where our roots are. At the same time, growing up in Hawaii exposed us to such a mix of food cultures, and that diversity still inspires and shapes the way we cook today.
Q. 料理を考案するとき、意識していることは何ですか？
日々の生活に自然に寄り添う料理を心がけています。短時間で作れて手間がかからず、ほっとするようなものですね。ベースには自分たちのルーツである日本の味があって、同時にハワイで育ちながら触れてきた多彩な食文化の経験も、今の料理に大きく影響していると感じます。
Q. CABAGGES WORLD started as a hobby at the beginning but is now your profession. How did that transition happen?
It evolved gradually over about four years. In the beginning, it wasn’t even a proper hobby, just something we did occasionally. But as we started putting in more time and effort, it slowly grew, and eventually it became our full-time work.
Q. 「CABAGGES WORLD」は趣味から始まったそうですが、今ではお仕事として活躍されています。どのように発展していったのですか？
4年くらいかけて少しずつ形になっていきました。最初は趣味と呼べるほどでもなくて、本当に時々やるくらいだったんです。でも少しずつ時間やエネルギーを注いでいくうちに、気づけばそれがだんだん育っていって、今では仕事として続けられるようになりました。
Q. What role does clothing play in your daily life and work?
Clothing has always been important to me, but it needs to be comfortable and functional. I look for pieces that fit into all parts of my day, from cooking at home to working and spending time with friends.
Q. 日常や仕事の中で、服はどんな役割を果たしていますか？
服は私にとってずっと大切な存在なんですけど、快適でちゃんと使えることが大前提ですね。家で料理をしているときも、仕事をしているときも、友達と過ごすときも、どんな場面にも一日通して馴染むような服を選んでいます
Q. In terms of clothing, what do “simplicity” and “essentials” mean to you?
For me, simplicity and essentials work almost like a functional uniform. They’re easy to combine with anything, bring a sense of harmony to what I wear, and always feel comfortable while giving me a little more confidence.
Q. 服を選ぶうえで「シンプル」や「エッセンシャル」はどんな意味を持ちますか？
「シンプリシティ」と「エッセンシャル」は、私にとってはいわば機能的なユニフォームのようなものなんです。どんな服とも組み合わせやすくて、自然と全体に統一感が出るし、着ていて気持ちがいい。自分にちょっと自信を持たせてくれるようなものでもあります。
Q. How do you feel in SOÉJU clothes?
They just fit so naturally with my everyday style. They bring ease, but also give me that simple, strong base I can build on and style in countless ways. Before I know it, I find myself reaching for them all the time.
Q. SOÉJUの服を着てみて、いかがですか？
SOÉJUの服は私の普段のスタイルにぴったりと寄り添ってくれます。快適さがありながらもシンプルで力強いベースをつくってくれるから、そこにいろんなスタイリングを重ねて自在に楽しめる。気がつけばいつも手に取ってしまう存在ですね。
Q. How has living in New York influenced your sensibility and style?
Daily life in New York is hectic—taking the subway, walking everywhere—I never want to feel uncomfortable. Dressing in a way that matches my lifestyle is essential. Even when I choose something more expressive, it still needs to be practical.
Q. ニューヨークでの暮らしは、ご自身の感性やスタイルにどんな影響を与えていますか？
ニューヨークでの生活は本当に慌ただしくて、地下鉄に乗ったり歩き回ったり、とにかく常に動き回っています。だから、不快に感じる服はなるべく避けたいなと思っていて。ライフスタイルに合った服が大切なんですよね。ちょっと個性的なデザインを選ぶときでも、やっぱり着やすさは欠かせないんですよね。
Q. With such a busy lifestyle, how do you reset or refresh yourself?
Cooking at home is definitely one of my favorite ways to reset. Making something simple, listening to music, and just stepping away from the computer. I also love spending time with friends, hosting gatherings or eating out. Since we have a backyard, sometimes we grill outside and enjoy that time together.
Q. 忙しい毎日の中で、どうやって気持ちを切り替えたりリフレッシュしていますか？
一番のリフレッシュはやっぱり料理ですね。シンプルなものを作りながら音楽を聴いて、パソコンから少し離れると、それだけでいい気分転換になるんです。友達と過ごす時間も欠かせなくて、家に呼んで集まったり外で食べたり。バックヤードがあるので、たまに外でグリルをしてみんなでワイワイ楽しむこともあります。
Q. What challenges have you faced so far, and what challenges do you hope to take on in the future?
One of the biggest challenges was making the decision to fully commit to CABAGGES WORLD while still holding full-time jobs. It felt like quite a bold leap. At this point, we’re figuring out what we’re interested in doing next. Since our work has mainly been in digital content, we’re also looking to create something tangible, whether that’s products or platforms.
Q. これまで経験してきた挑戦、そして今後チャレンジしてみたいことを教えてください。
一番大きなチャレンジのひとつは、フルタイムで仕事を続けながら「CABAGGES WORLD」に本気でコミットしようと決めたことでした。正直、かなり思い切った一歩だったなと感じました。今はちょうど、次にどんなことに取り組みたいのかを模索しているところ。これまでは主にデジタルコンテンツが中心だったんですけど、今後はフィジカルなプロダクトやプラットフォームづくりにももっと力を入れていきたいと思っているんです。
